Season Of Blah

For this last week I’ve been telling myself I have nothing to blog about … which is why I haven’t posted anything since the ‘eyelash’ incident.

Much has happened though … I finished the latest round of renovations to our trailer and back into storage it went on Saturday.

I have come to terms with my new computer taking several more steps to do just about anything than I grew accustomed to with Windows 7. I’ve hunted-and-gathered programs to replace the ones Microsoft deemed unnecessary in the new millennium, including an acceptable analogue desktop clock.

All the Autumnal leaves have fallen from the Autumn Tree, and she’s settling her Winter Tree mantle across her shoulders.

Even though infection rates are soaring in our province (as they are across Canada) as one would expect as Winter draws close, at least three Covid-19 vaccine trials have produced some favourable preliminary results.

Mrs Widds and I are both healthy. (apart from the usual ailments the living of many decades invariably produce)

I accomplish the day-to-day tasks running a household requires with a minimum of moaning and groaning. I appreciate the results, not necessarily the doing of them.

All-in-all, life is … OK, so I’m just going to call this in-between time, the days between the end of Autumn and the beginning of Winter, the Season of Blah.

  5. Blahzilla can be menacing but nothing that a good book can’t ward off

I can’t remember. Does Blah follow Meah and precede Humpf or is the other way round?

We’re in-and-out of winter-spring so yesterday was quite warm; today is chilly but humid and wet. I think it’s time for some Vitamin D to compensate for the lack of sun. Not sure if it’ll help the Blah Season, but can’t hurt. 🙂

    Stay well, both of you.

  8. Tree is looking tall and healthy. It’s chilly when the sun isn’t up here. Wish rain could slip through whatever is keeping it from falling on us. Cheers!

  9. I am infinitely grateful that we already moved, that the maintenance (our refrigerator broke a week ago, and, within the hour, ON THE WEEKEND, a new temporary one was roled into our apartment by Eddie, the maintenance guy on duty.

They’re taking forever to deal with the paperwork of a new one – we want the specific model we chose, which has almost 9 years to go on the warranty, and we’re in the middle of a pandemic…

But meanwhile, we have a cold fridge and ice cubes – and don’t have to deal with anything.

The husband is stressed by financial stuff, and I’m pretty useless, but I get time to write when I can corral my mind, and dinner is delivered, and I don’t go out of the apartment much anyway. And even under present conditions, the outdoor pool has been kept open (I took a short dip yesterday), and we sometimes get to say hi to actual people – and play ‘Who am I?’ with the ones who forget their nametags.

It’s what WE needed, and I’m glad we had it in place BEFORE the pandemic hit.

After 31 years, I really just have to worry about me. I can’t help anyone else except by cheering them up when I see them, or sending email, and I can’t imagine how isolated we would be now back in New Jersey.

I’m a hermit by nature so there’s been very little change actual change for me. I think it’s more the long, long, periods of nothing but rain-filled skies, because today (Saturday) we had bright blue skies and I immediately felt back inside my skin again. 😀

      • I’m an introvert, but not a hermit. I don’t think I could live alone as my heroine does unless I was somewhat healthier – and had less brain fog. She’s over twenty years younger, as I’m writing her, and I can’t remember if I was better that much back then. But I could walk then.

I made her more successful as a writer because I needed an in to the world of writing and movies that was more credible; in 2005, where the story ended up, Amazon was barely getting started in ebooks, and she landed a competent agent, and was fortunately enough to take off with a traditional publisher.

She’s a recluse when the story starts, and one of the main questions to the story is can that change, by how much, and how – given that she is profoundly damaged by the cfs.

A realistic view of what it’s like to deal with is her backstory. I hope I make believable what happens.

  12. Sounds like good news overall (in a year when the bad news runs rampant). Stay warm, stay safe. ❤

You’re a cat person? You should look up the new film Shedding. It’s about a cat that becomes a human for a day. But it’s indie-French New Wave in its approach; it’s not a Will Ferrell-becomes-a-cat big studio flick. I loved it.
