Photographing In David Attenborough Stealth-Mode

A week ago I posted a bit about Mrs Widds new toy, promising further revelations when the rain stopped.

Coco The community Cat has informed me that the sun is indeed shining and Mrs Widds has been spotted heading toward her new toy. I grabbed my super-duper whizz-bang hi-fi camera (aka cellphone) and tailed her, making sure I was downwind so as not to give myself away.

I got a single shot of her before she moved out of camera range.

My next shot needed to capture the rare and elusive ‘toy’ in its natural habitat. Well camouflaged, it took some time but I did indeed get a once-in-a-million shot.

The thing about ‘toy’ camouflage is that the outer layers seldom match the inner ones. I’d have to keep an eye on this one to capture the moment when it shed the outer layer and reveal the beast within … oh look, it’s happening already!!!

Cover off – Taa-dah!!!

Yep, there she goes

The bloke next door was so intent on mowing his grass verge, Mrs Widds got right past him without him noticing a thing. Once the grass gets growing here on out little street the competitive mowing season shifts into high gear. It’s serious business here, let me tell you!

Back to stealth mode picture taking. Looks like Mrs widds is bringing her in.

… and so, another day on Widder Island draws to a close. All that’s left is to wish that may you all live long and prosper … and May the 4th be with you.

  1. A fun post with the first May 4th joke I’ve yet read. Would you like me to send over a few ponies for your verge?

  5. Ooooh, the Missus’ new toy is a cutie. It has me wanting one. That’s a great shot of her in helmet, perfect for today’s “May the Fourth go with you”. I’m going to the garden now and imagine myself riding a yellow scooter. Toot, toot.

They’re dead easy to ride. There’s no gears like on a full sized motor bike just a throttle and brakes. And if the engine is under 50cc then you don’t need a separate motorcycle licence, at least here in Canada at any rate. 🙂

      • I used to drive a red scooter when I lived in San Francisco, another life ago. That thing was heaven when it came to finding parking. I’ve already mentioned to the Husband that I want a scooter. I can see myself puttering the country roads. Yup.

Wow! I won’t ride my tricycle without something covering my arms and legs and head in case I come off…but Mrs W has bare arms. She is really brave! (And I really dig that helmet ma-am!)

Jut between you and I she didn’t actually go fast enough to risk life and limb. 😀 … but she does have a very cool set of riding ‘leathers’ for when she feels confident enough to go out on a public road. 🙂

Such a fun post, and the wildlife action pics were great, well done. So nice to see the maple leaf tree too. New toys are lovely, and I hope she gets lots of joy out of it, as do you : )

Launching out on a Saga is an ambitious enterprise! I feel jealous; my scooter is a foot-propelled type. Handy for getting from remote parking places to the action, though.

I thought I might experience a frission of the ‘green’s, but no, my (motor) bike days are behind me. Which was nice because I could celebrate wholeheartedly with her. 😀
