Mrs Widds and I are working on a new project. It’s very exciting and rather big, which I’ll go into in a later post.
One of the things we do when we’re engaged in challenging stuff over extended periods of time, it to give ourselves space to unwind.
Mrs Widds usually does a weekend retreat, and I go to the cinema. Not to watch just any old movie, nope, not me. I go to see the whole full-on-flat-out-3D-enchilada that is science fiction adventure movies.
We all decompress in our own way! 🙂
As an ex-Aussie, (that’s what it says on my brand spanking new Canadian passport – hint for the immanent excellent adventure) and having enjoyed the Mad Max movies of last century, (’79, ’81, and ’85, respectively!!!) I felt it my duty to see what this new iteration had to offer.
A gazillion reviews are out there on the interwebz, and I’m not going to add to them. All I have to say is if you’re on the fence, (watch out for them splinters – nasty things) go see it because, Charlize Theron!

Unspoken
If this picture doesn’t break your heart, this one might …

All is lost
… and if that one doesn’t, you have no heart at all 🙂
Thanks for the endorsement – I’ll consider it.
Do they still have petrol? We scientist types ask questions like that, and are they boiling the water, and what about vaccines – but that’s just because we’re weird. We ask them once, and then sit back and enjoy the movie.

The science is … a little lacking … but then … to make up for it there’s this gang of … well that would be telling, wouldn’t it? 🙂

Yowza! Verrrrrrry intense. I don’t know if I could handle it.

Very intense it certainly is. I’m usually quite stoic in my seat, (too caught up in what I’m watching to be aware of my body) but even I was wincing and dodging the stuff that came flying at me via the wonderful technology that is 3D.
The payoff is seeing some truly amazing female characters kick butt and take names – some that you’re aware of from the trailers and some that are a delightful surprise that no-one (in all the media I’ve seen) ever mentions.
I’m being very good and not saying anything spoiler-ish, but I soooooo want to! 🙂

hahaha. The movie must be totally amazing if you want to talk spoilers. It wouldn’t bother me, but it may for other readers. Spoilers would actually take down the intensity for me.

I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about that movie. Maybe the only English language cinema in town will show it and I can go. 🙂
