Going boldly into that dark night …

So, it’s the Star Trek season, and it’s gonna be a hot one. I’m looking forward to seeing this latest offering. I’ve seen all the movies over the years, and all the episodes of all the series, except Star Trek: Enterprise. I don’t know why that is …  ’42′, I suppose!

So, in honour of all things terkkie, I give you this most wonderful infographic:
The entire history of Star Trek is in this SPACE.com timeline infographic.

Ooh, thanks! I just got the seven Picard seasons from a friend and want to check out the whole Trekkie scene. I watched them as a kid, but can’t remember a thing. Other than that, I’ve only seen the previous film. Can’t wait for Into Darkness!

Thanks for posting both the infographic and the commercial. Very cool! The infographic does leave out all the print work, though — there were comics that paralleled the animated series, there were (and maybe still are) fanzines, and of course, the tie-in books could break a bookcase.

(And, yes, I’ve consumed Trek in every flavor imaginable.)

  3. I saw the Leslie Nielsen movie for the first time last year. It did remind me of the original Star Trek series and wondered how much the story and the characters influenced Roddenberry. Definitely looking forward to seeing the new movie. The Husband says I like Scotty more as a young man because I like the actor. He’s probably right. Simon Pegg is brilliant. My favorite movie of him and his buddy is “Paul”. That was hilarious.

I’ve never seen the original Scotty, but I loved Simon Pegg’s version. I’ve enjoyed almost all of his performances; Hot Fuzz is one of my favourites. Paul was great :)

    • Widdershins says:

Leslie was a bit of a B-grade movie action hero back in the day
. . . the ‘not eating a dead bird’ bit in the trailer put me off seeing ‘Paul’, so I waited until it came out on DVD so I could not see or hear if I didn’t like the scene – Spock would most assuredly spurn my logic!

Can’t wait to see this movie! My husband and I are holding out for the crowds. Crazy, I know! Thank you for the fun infographic.

    • Widdershins says:

Yep, Crazee! Mrs Widds and I wait until the madding crowd has thinned a little. There’s not so many weenie-boppers to glare at and make them turn off their cellphones!

  5. That commercial was great, Widdershins, thanks for posting! Very well done, and I laughed out loud several times. :)
